We will cover fundamentals such as footwork, positions or guards, controlling your opponent's blade, timing, and defense. |

for Women: "The Book of the Knight of the Tower" and "The Goodman of Paris." The "Knight of the Tower" (circa 1371-2) was written by Geoffroy de la Tour-Landry, a knight of Anjou, who compiled a book of precepts and anecdotes for the "edification" of his daughters. The 15th Century "English" translation of this medieval book will be the source of a discussion on the morals and mores of the 14th Century. "The Goodman of Paris" (1392-4) was written by an elderly Parisian merchant as a book of instruction for his new, young bride. Using these treatises, this class will take a look at how young women in the 14th century were molded into the perfect example of daughters, wives, and mothers. |
