Siege Cooking Competition!

Well, there is the A&S Tourney and, as promised last year, there will once again be a Siege Cooking Competition!

As you may recall, the team, which won last year, was The Company of St. Teresa. This year, they have graciously volunteered to run the competition! Although not a requirement, we hope that this will becoming a wonderful tradition, where each years winning team will run the competition for the following year.

And as for a scenario? Well, they've got a wonderful one for you this year!

Imagine if you will, that you are an itinerant cook looking for employment. You have been traveling from manor to manor and you supplies are dwindling. You have a mere five pounds of dry goods left spices, dried herbs, dried mushrooms, hard cheese, etc.) and find the most wonderful manor house yet.

AND THEY HAVE AN OPENING FOR A COOK!!! YES!!!

But, you must prove yourself worthy Grasshopper! (And please, no grasshopper in your dishes unless you can document them!) So, having been given some fresh ingredients (not grasshopper) to work with, and what's left of your own stores, you must present your best meal ever!

Sounds pretty fun!

To enter: You must send a list of who is on your team and a check for $15 (to cover the fresh ingredients) by July 14 to Donna Green-Tye, 1077 Kansas St., San Francisco, CA 94107.

If you have any questions, please contact Juana Isabella de Montoya y Ramirez at donnaegreen at yahoo dot com or (415) 641-4370.

And, of course, for yours truly.... I GET TO JUDGE THIS YEAR!! I so wanted to last year with all the wonderful entries being made.

I will be in charge of the judges so I will be taking bribes -- er, volunteers-- once we get closer to the event!!

My thanks to Juana and her crew for taking over the competition and good luck to all the teams! I'm sure I will be getting to sample some truly wonderful food!
